Pile Foundation Construction of High Performance Styrene Polymer Project with an Annual Output of 310,000 tons

The project is located in Taixing, Jiangsu Province, invested by SP Chemicals (Taixing) Co., Ltd. Our company was responsible for the pile foundation construction (including test pile) and site leveling works.

The main work content of this project is the construction of pile foundation (including test pile) and site leveling in the whole plant area. The pile foundation project includes two types of piles, namely, bored piles and PHC pipe piles, of which more than 720 bored piles with diameters of 0.8m and 0.6m have been completed in total and more than 2,200 PHC pipe piles have been completed in total.

The test pile construction of the project was started on December 8, 2020 and completed on December 21, 2020, which lasted 14 days, including 6 PHC pipe piles and 9 bored piles. The construction of engineering piles was started on April 2, 2021 and completed on December 3, 2021, lasting 276 days. The construction period and progress met the overall progress requirements of the owner.

Due to the long construction period of the project, the peak construction period is in the hot and windy summer season in Taixing area, and the original landscape of the project site is full of ponds, ditches, etc., and the silty and powdery clay is thicke, which caused more difficulties for the construction of pile foundation. First of all, the high quality of concrete was required under high temperature weather conditions, and the concrete collapsed faster, so the project department strictly controlled the time of issuing materials from the mixing plant and the concrete workability on site, and the concrete whose workability did not meet the requirements was withdrawn from the site. Secondly, the cooling time of the weld after the completion of PHC pipe pile welding was strictly controlled to guarantee the quality of the pipe pile joint weld; then, corresponding measures were taken to control the concrete fullness coefficient.

After the construction of the pile, the third-party testing company tested the pile by static load, pullout resistance, high strain method, acoustic transmission method and low strain method, and the test results were all qualified.
